Obituary of Barbara Kemp
KEMP: BARBARA ELIZABETH ANN Passed away at Extendicare - Lakefield on Saturday March 14, 2009. Barbara Kemp of Apsley in her 84th year. Barbara Elizabeth Ann (Melville) Kemp was born in Toronto on September 9th, 1925. She was the oldest child of Mary and Francis Melville. Barb was married to her true love Harry Kemp on June 18th, 1949. Barb and Harry lived in Toronto where Barb worked at the Rockcliffe Nursing Home. In 1974 they moved to Apsley and bought the Shell Station known as Stephens and McDonald. Barb's family visited Apsley for many years prior to her and Harry moving to their home on Long Lake Road. Barb was a den mother for cubs and scouts, a leader for the 4 -H club and one of most talented women you would ever meet. Barb could knit, sew, crochet and do ceramics. She was an Avon and Artex sales women. Most residents and non-residents in Apsley have fond memories of taking ceramic lessons at the Country Workshop. Barb is survived by her son Mark and his wife Pat, her son John and his wife Jan and five grandchildren Matt Kemp, Chrissy Kemp, Casey Kemp, Samantha Kemp and Laura Woodbeck. She is survived by her sister Ruth Surgeoner and nieces and nephews. Barb was predeceased by her husband Harry, her brothers Ernie Melville and Albert Melville. A Memorial Service will be held at the Apsley Community Chapel on Saturday March 21, 2009 at 2:00 PM. Visitation one hour prior to the service.
