Obituary of Elda Payne
On September 4, 1918, Elda Juliene Sanderson was born in Smith Township, daughter of the late Howard Sanderson and Laura Elliott. She was raised on the family farm in Smith Township, assisting her family with the many chores that needed to be done and attended S.S. #7 Smith. On November 1, 1939, she married Clarence Payne at the Selwyn United Church. They moved into Warsaw and lived above Darling""?s Store where they began their family. In the early 40""?s they moved to the Aa?E?top of the hill""? in Warsaw and in 1957 Clarence built their home where they she lived until this past June. Sadly, Clarence passed away in 1995.
Elda was a private, quiet yet determined lady who loved to spend time with her family. She ran the household efficiently while Clarence worked and even found time to do much knitting, needlework and sewing clothes. She made all the clothing for her family as they grew. She enjoyed playing the piano and took pleasure in dancing. She and Clarence were always so graceful as they crossed the dance floor. Together they took several bus trips to the East & West Coasts and Dollywood. She loved her gardens and would tend the flowers especially her African Violets. Elda was a member of the 4H Club, the Warsaw Women""?s Institute and the Warsaw U.C.W.
On Monday July 19, 2010, Elda passed away at the Campbellford Memorial Hospital after having moved to Pleasant Meadow Manor in Norwood on June 1st, 2010. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
