Obituary of David Minshall

MINSHALL: DAVID LLOYD ""Min"" Passed away at Canterbury Gardens, Peterborough on Friday February 25, 2011, in his 96th year. Loving husband of the late Bertha Lenna Minshall (nee Caldwell) (2008). Sadly missed by his children Patricia Robinson (Paul), Betty Jane Boniakowski (Frank), David Minshall (Val McGriskin) and Bill Minshall; his 9 grandchildren Jonathan Robinson (Terra), Julie Lang (Bill), Michael Boniakowski (Alicia), Geoffrey Boniakowski (Angela), Eric Minshall (Cherylyn), John Minshall, Meredith Minshall, Jennifer Watson (Jason), Melinda McGriskin and his 5 great grandchildren Charlotte Watson, Rebecca Lang, Leah Watson, Tessa Lang and Sebastian Boniakowski. Lloyd was predeceased by his brother Harold Minshall and sister Rhea Minshall. Lloyd enjoyed a versatile career with many roles including; recreation pioneer, editor, humanitarian, gardener, always remaining foremost a family man. His first job was as a science teacher at Lakefield High School in 1939. He fell in love with the village and decided at that time that Lakefield is where he would retire. He and Bertha enjoyed life together in the village where they participated in many local events. The family is especially grateful for the loving care provided by his guardian angels Jessie Smith and Barb Kimbal. Friends and relatives may call at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL on Sunday February 27, 2011 from 1-3 PM. A funeral service will be held in the Hendren Chapel on Monday February 28, 2011 at 2:00 PM. Rev. Warren Vollmer officiating. A reception will follow in the Heritage Room of the funeral home. Burial of cremated remains will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Brantford, at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Lakefield United Church Memorial Fund or Lakefield Community Care as expressions of sympathy.
