Doreen: It was such a shock to hear of Dave's death.I have known him since our RMC days and afterwards as a friend of Spence and also of Earl.Dave always had such a great sense of humour and whimsy.I loved his robust love of life and while we did not see alot of each other when we did meet it was always such a great pleasure. Please accept my sincere condolences over your loss. I am thinking about you during this difficult time and am so sorry for your loss. You are in my thoughts and my prayers. Those we love remain with us For love itself lives on, And cherished memories never fade Because a loved one's gone. Hi Doreenit's been so long since we've enjoyed the hospitality of the OkesDave has always been a constant in my heart and in my mindhe invited you to think deeply about what was life and what was the small part we all play in itHe was the teacher's teacherI would often visit his classroom just to sit in and observe never did I ever leave his classroom without a feeling of I just experienced something magical his classroom was not defined by 4 wallsone of the times he called my home Pat answered the phone...I was in the basement doing something... he suggested to Pat that being in the basement I was delving deep into my unconscienceThat was DaveWhether it was your belly or your mind or your heart he would try and fill you ...Dave was a filler and Patti and I wil miss him...

Dearest Dave, How empty the world will feel: no more kind, enlightened, empathetic encouragement from you. You knew people and life so well, and blessed all of us who were fortunate enough to know you and work with you, with your unique insights and understanding of what made us all 'tick'. All those insights, and knowledge of Jung's power, especially, are with us for ever, and have made us just a little more aware of the fullness of life, and...yes, death. We will follow you! Together, we will know even more!

Sorry to hear of coach's death. We cannot make the funeral but I wanted to give thanks for Dave and his influence on my life! (You too Doreen..never forget your hospitality when I was in the transitional years leaving high school and spending time at your home..listening to Dave's amazing record collection and getting myself collected and meeting your amazing kids!!!!.....You lived in the Yonge and Eglinton area if I remember rightly. I'll never forget Dave joining us when we ran cross country at Wexford..he could outrun most of the team...and always gave us tips on winning...e.g. when you get to the top of the hill...sprint off it ..it will psych out the runners behind you and give you an edge.....and my famous run at Birchmount Stadium..Dave said if I ran a steady pace and he kept track on his stop watch as I kept the steady pace and came second in the 3000 by two laps....the winner having run an unsteady race. And the Rolls Royces?????...neat to go to a meet in those cars And his stories...loved his stories...made Math class the best...and his demand for respect!!!..never forget the day he walked quietly down to an unsuspecting punk in our class who had decided to sit out the National Anthem and Dave picking him up with one hand (on the last bar of the song) and walking him kicking and screaming down to the Office....and to Dave's legendary dossier at Wexford And Dave keeping in touch with his student/friends over the years....myself included... An amazing guy who encouraged us to live life the fullest and to live it unafraid ...(sounds like he could have played the part of Robin Williams in his teacher movie that I forget the name of but remember the carpe diem theme. What a great guy Dave was and I am blessed to have known and been influenced by him. May you, Doreen, and your family be loved as you continue the grief walk in the Valley of the Shadow You are in our hearts and prayers and we'll be there on Tuesday...in Spirit Love Roger and Janess Landell Feb.6/12

Doreen, Marion,Sue, Lesley and families: I am so sad to hear of the sudden passing of Dave. Our families share so many fond memories. All these years I always loved to hear that mom/dad had received a letter/note from Dave and so enjoyed reading them and having a good laugh. One of our favorite photos is Dave and Dad standing on the steps of the butcher shop sharing a huge laugh. None of us will ever forget the story of Mom calling Dave George at the dinner table! Sandy and I send our thoughts and prayers to you at this time of loss.
