Obituary of Douglas Smith

SMITH: Douglas M. Passed away after a short but valiant struggle with liver cancer at the P.R.H.C. - Palliative Care on Friday February 24, 2012. Doug Smith of Lakefield in his 60th year. Doug was a partner and Board Member of Trent Metals Ltd. since 2000, after having joined the company in 1995. Loved and missed by his wife of 35 years, Cathy, and his children Andrew (Sarah) of Bradford and Danielle Coveney (Paul) of Bridgenorth. Special Papa to his grandson Blake. Survived by his sister Barbara Herber (Ray) of San Diego, California and his brother-in-law Brian Bates of Carlisle. Predeceased by his parents Edward & Patricia. Friends and relatives may call at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL on Monday February 27, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Lions Club Memorial Service will be held on Monday evening at 6:30 PM. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday February 28, 2012 at 11:00 AM followed by interment at Lakefield Cemetery. A reception will follow at Lakefield United Church. Memorial donations may be made to the P.R.H.C. Palliative Care, Canadian Liver Foundation or the Lakefield United Church Memorial Fund as expressions of sympathy.
