Obituary of Volker Leyerzapf
LEYERZAPF, Volker, 68, of Bobcaygeon, died peacefully at Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay in the early morning of October 29th, 2010 after a long, valiant battle against cancer. He was born in Hamburg, Germany, the only son of Ludwig and Hermoine (Schuler) Leyerzapf, but immigrated to Canada with his family and was raised in Burlington from an early age. He received his Bachelors of Engineering degree from McMaster University in 1966, his P.Eng in 1968, and later his Masters of Business Administration, also from McMaster University, in 1970. Volker’s academic achievements were followed by a long, successful career at Imperial Oil which afforded him an opportunity to work across Canada and internationally abroad in Europe and the U.S. He leaves his beloved wife Patricia; his daughter Kathryn of Edmonton; and his son Chris and his wife Tanya of Budapest, Hungary. He also leaves his pride and joy, energetic grandson, Carsten (Chris and Tanya). A Memorial Service will be held for friends and family at MONK FUNERAL SERVICES, 6 HELEN SREET, BOBCAYGEON, ONTARIO (705-738-3222 or 866-393-0063) from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 6th.
