Dear Mary & Family LaVerne & I are sorry that we cannot be there with you, your Family & friends, today. Our friendship with you & Doug has lasted 47 years, from about 1965. Our years with you & Doug, especially during our university days, are fondly remembered. In class, Doug & I sat beside or close by one another during those years; We prepared for exams together, oft times with Elio Palazzi (deceased, about a month before Doug), Ron Manchen (overcoming health problems in St. Thomas ON Linda would not let him join you today), Ihor Lapka (still in Windsor, as is his ex, Betty) & Bob Lauzon (deceased a number of years ago); You & LaVerne (before she contracted MS) & sometimes Betty Lapka shopped together; & We often celebrated at the Bridge House, The Dominion House, Ghans, Lees Imperial House, & any other classy place we could find! Doug was a true, loyal, & beautifully imperfect friend. He had a great sense of humour, a unique laugh, & many friends. He worked hard for his degree, & if it had not been for the statistics subject/class, he would have been even more successful. He loved his Family very much. But each of us has one or more weaknesses, & Doug was not an exception here. When it was last call at the Bridge House, he or Bob Lauzon always had a location in mind to carry on the celebrations. We worked hard, & we played hard, & many successes followed over the years. As we mature & some of our dreams have materialized, our kids have grown up, & some of our friends & partners have gone to meet their maker, life continues to challenge us. One of the challenges you now face is how to move on without your life partner, & this will not be easy. But we know that you are up to the challenge. Please let us know when the challenge becomes too much for you. Thats what friends are for, eh. Come & visit. Warmest regards from us here in Parry Sound/Carling. Jim & LaVerne Bunsch

Mary & Family - So sorry to hear that Doug is no longer with us. We enjoyed his friendship from our UofWindsor days & will miss him. Following your ââ?¬Ë?phone call yesterday, I contacted Ron Manchen & Joan Koponen, & tried to contact Elio Palazzi (passed away July 10th @ 79 yoa). If we can help in any way, let us know. Come & visit.
