I still hold that wonderful and vivid memory of being a child on the operating table about to have my tonsils out at Scarboro General Hospital when a kindly warm voice behind my head said "So, Jill, how's Stony?" A terrifying experience turned to one of trust and comfort when I realized it was mom and dad's friend Will in the white coat. It still brings a smile to my face. I do miss Will, and arriving at the dock at Dunford's (where we most often saw one another in recent years) have never been the same. Thinking of you all.

Dear Christie: Please accept my sincere sympathy in your loss of Will. I only met him once when we shared a table at an Academy luncheon. I remember how we connected quickly when we discovered that we both had relatives in the same part of Nova Scotia. But I remember how I came to know Will through the stories and writing that you shared with the Memoirs class. I particularly remember the story of how you took Will up to the Lake before you were married to see if it looked like he could love it as much as you did. And he did, and you had many years together, the Lake and the boat being so important a part of it. I remember the article that you wrote for a local publication, your interview with Judy Maddren, and your presentation to the class. So Will became very real to me, as he did to many, I'm sure, and I wanted to send you and your family my condolences in his loss. Sincerely, Marge Kelley

Tribute to Will Bentham September 7, 2012 Christie, Ken, Margaret, John, David, Harry, Claire and all the Bentham family; Our condolences to you at this time. Gretchen and I have many, many memories of Will and Christie over the past five decades. Professionally, I worked with Will at the Scarborough General Hospital. He knew his trade (anesthetist) and he treated his patients with great skill and compassion. Recreationally, we skied at numerous resorts from Collingwood to Europe to British Columbia to Colorado and more. Will was a ââ?¬Ë?beautiful...gracefulââ?¬â?¢ skier who appeared to float down the hills with little effort. At the end of those excursions were ââ?¬Ë?awards ceremoniesââ?¬â?¢ that were a hilarious enjoyable celebration of the skiing event. As our acclaimed MC, Will had a self-deprecating humor that had us holding our ribs that were sore from laughing so hard. He and his committee picked out our idiosyncrasies for recognition with some kind of a hokey award. Examples were usually the best ââ?¬Å?face-plantââ?¬Â or ââ?¬Å?garage saleââ?¬Â or some kind of a faux pas. No one took offense or exception to the award as all received one. The fact was, we were happy to have the acclaim or the notoriety because no insult or slight was intended. With his family, he was a ââ?¬Ë?rockââ?¬â?¢ and he stressed to his children that the ââ?¬Å?Benthamââ?¬Â name was very important and something to be lived up to... to be the best that you could be. We shall not forget Will.

Christie and family: WE knew that Will had been seriously ill for some time but we were still shocked to hear of his passing. Will had been a leading figure at the lake, and a friend and collaborator for so many years, that we feel a real and personal sense of loss. Will was a true gentleman, interested in the lake and his many friends hear, and with an eagerness to help where he could. He stands out as a true leader and friend. We extend our deepest sympathies to you: Will will be missed and mourned by all who new him. Bob and Wendy
