Obituary of Martin Gammack

GAMMACK, Martin Douglas Sidney (September 18, 1935 - January 21, 2014) .passed from this life, peacefully at home with his family present on Tuesday January 21, 2014. Cherished only son of the late Albert and Elsie Gammack of Toronto and Sunderland, Ontario, beloved husband of 55 years to Elizabeth (nee Bacon), dearly loved father to Jen (Adrian Park), Doug (Lorraine), Laura (Gordon Brew), Sue (Jodie Lalonde) and treasured "Poppa" to Hilary, Meredith, Evan, Nigel, Kassi, Markie, Sarah, Aedan, Emma, Madi, Nathaniel, Alison, Charlie and Molly. Martin enjoyed a full life always with business success and satisfaction running several US based subsidiaries in Canada and an early retirement which afforded he and Liz over 20 years of joy, living between Stoney Lake and Dunedin, Florida as well as Bobcaygeon and Lakefield golfing and fishing as well as traveling and spending time with family and friends everywhere. Martin was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church in Lakefield and enjoyed several meaningful volunteer activities including Peterborough Big Brothers, Kawartha Food Share as well as Arms of Jesus mission trips to Guatemala. He was a friend to all who met himhe will be truly missed and never forgotten. A memorial service will be held at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, Lakefield on Saturday February 1, 2014 at 11:00 AM. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall of the church. In lieu of flowers, donations to Arms of Jesus Mission, Kawartha Youth for Christ as well as Peterborough Hospice and the VON would be deeply appreciated.
