Loved and missed by his children Steve Duff and his wife Monique Dube and Susan Duff, both of Toronto. Grandpa is remembered by his special granddaughter Lauren. Also missed by his brother Bruce and his wife Audrey of Franklin, Indiana and his sister Joy Nayler and her husband Doug of Peterborough. Also remembered by his Aunt Pearl and many cousins, nephews and nieces. Predeceased by many Aunts and Uncles that had a positive influence on his life. Garth was grateful for his relationships with many friends, business colleagues, neighbours, students, congregations, Ailsa Kay and those that he helped guide in life. It was real. Garth at various times worked in labs and factories, as a real estate developer, was a pastor, taught science, psychology, real estate and built a house on a lot on what had been his grandfather's property. One of his earliest jobs was as a lab technician at The Banting Institute in Toronto and he also worked with himself being an insulin dependent diabetic since February 1967. He was always grateful for understanding medical personnel. In his later years, Garth enjoyed very much working on the house he lived in in Peterborough and took great pleasure in working in the gardens there. He spent many hours building whimsical wooden sculptures to be enjoyed by all as well as volunteering, coaching, fundraising, writing letters and writing his book. When he was able, Garth regularly attended Murray St. and Lakefield Baptist Churches. He was an active participant in the community and always worked to bring positive change for all. A funeral service will be held at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL on Thursday June 12, 2014 at 1:00 PM. Visitation two hours prior to the service. Cremation to follow. A reception will follow the service at the Lakefield Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the P.R.H.C. Foundation as expressions of sympathy.
