Obituary of Joan Beverley Bodrug
BODRUG: Joan Beverley
Passed away peacefully at the P.R.H.C. on Wednesday June 11, 2014. Forever loved by her husband, Dr. Paul Bodrug of 57 years and by her beloved three children, Sandra, Janet (Steve Hambleton), David (Cathy Redhead), and nine grandchildren: Allison, Nathan (Bailey), Kelli-Anne (Erik) and Andrea Pukancik; Steven and Jake Hambleton; Daralyn, Charlene and Thomas Bodrug and two great grandchildren Ryder and Berkley. Beverley (Campbell) was a graduate of Toronto Teachers College and quickly engaged the warm embrace of her young primary school pupils, both in Toronto and Peterborough, for her conscientious and warm enthusiastic attention to their learning. While teaching in Toronto, she proudly earned her "PhT" degree for "putting hubby through" the last four and a half years of his studies at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto. Beverley was continuously involved in teaching church Sunday School classes from an early age, and then later moved from teaching traditional biblical studies to progressive Christianity for adult classes. Her quietly forceful, charismatic nature and clear convictions were highly praised and honoured by her students. But her great love was clearly for her children and grandchildren in whose activities she took a passionate interest - from trips on the family boat to Georgian Bay, to summertime all-girls weekly camping in the Bunkie while attending art or pottery, swimming or adventure day camps in the area. Into their school work and their special interests she called for their perseverance and creativity, and the value of putting their best effort into their work. Special thanks for the compassionate care given by Dr. Ragaz, the Palliative Care Unit at P.R.H.C. and We Care Home Health Services. A funeral service to celebrate Bev's life will be held at Bridgenorth United Church on Saturday June 21, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Dr. Anne Gowans-Blinn officiating. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall of the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bridgenorth United Church or to the James Fund for Neuroblastoma Research. Friends may send condolences by contacting THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL at www.hendrenfuneralhome.com or by calling 705-652-3355.
