Obituary of Allan Stanley

Allan passed away peacefully at Specialty Care Case Manor, Bobcaygeon, on Friday evening, October 18, 2013 at the age of 87. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara, to whom he was deeply devoted; his parents, Bill and Ann Stanley, and his brother, Murray. He is survived by his brother-in-law, John Bowie; many Stanley, Gallagher and Bowie nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins. Allan was born in Timmins, Ontario on March 1, 1926.  He enjoyed a very long and successful hockey career.  He played for several National Hockey League teams.  The most successful of his twenty-one year career was with the Toronto Maple Leafs (1958-1968) where he won four Stanley Cups, his last in 1967. Allan capped his career when inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1981. After retirement from hockey, Allan and Barbara bought and operated the Bee Hive Hockey School Complex near Bobcaygeon successfully for over twenty years until retirement. Always a dignified gentleman, Allan will be sadly missed by family, friends and the hockey world. A memorial service will be held at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 41 John Street, Fenelon Falls, on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 11 am.
