Obituary of Evelyn Irwin

Passed away peacefully at Pinecrest Nursing Home, Bobcaygeon at the age of 100 on December 14, 2013.  Evelyn Irwin was born at Pontypool, Ontario on January 22, 1913. Daughter of the late Emily McIntosh of Whitby and George Scott, Pontypool farmers.  Evelyn attended Harmony Public School, Oshawa Collegiate and Peterborough Normal College.  She was a public school teacher for five years. Predeceased by her beloved husband George Irwin (1998). They farmed at Enniskillen, Ontario before retiring to Bobcaygeon in 1972. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Donna Gail Sipiorski (Dennis) of Minden, Nevada and her son, Rodney (Claire) Irwin of Terrace, BC. Loving grandmother to Dwayne, Wendy, Christina, Brandon, Neil and Cheryl as well as five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Evelyn is also survived by her niece, Sharon Gillespie (Ian) of Newmarket and nephews, Robert and Frank Scott and many more in the Irwin family; brother-in-law, Ross Irwin (Norma) of Peterborough, Norman (Anne) of Stratford and sister-in-law, Ada Knapton of Brampton. Her burial will take place in Verulam Cemetery, Bobcaygeon in the spring.
