Obituary of Michael Klein

With great sorrow the family of Michael Klein announce his passing on Feb 11th at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, Palliative Care Unit after a short illness.  Born in St Thomas, Ontario on Jan 2nd, 1947 to the late Bill and Betty Klein.  He is survived by his wife Louise of 34 years, sons Joe (Veronica), Michael (Tiffany) and his treasured granddaughters Josie and Lily.  Also survived by sister Lynne Thompson (Eric), their children Jennifer and Ben, brother, friend and neighbour David (Janet), their children Rob and Elizabeth.  Michael retired to the family cottage on Nogies Creek, Bobcaygeon remembering past memories and making new memories with his loving family and friends.  Michael had a successful and happy 30 year career in Firefighting with the Town of Whitby.  An avid sportsman, Michael spent many happy times at the Wabash hunt camp he shared with friends. Michael was a passionate snowmobiler. He was a member of the Twin Mountains Snowmobiling Club spending many hours volunteering his time working on the trails with his friends, and taking on other responsibilities as needed.  He sledded locally with club members enjoying sledding trips around Ontario and into Quebec. Michael loved to boat the lakes in the Kawarthas and the many happy hours spent with his cousin Bill and Velma at their cottage.Michael loved and was loved by his Nogies Creek Family and was often seen chatting with them as they happened by. Above all, Michael loved his family. He instilled in his sons the love of the outdoors and the blessing of family. Michael was a kind, easy going and gentle man.  Special thank you to Dr Ferrier, Dr Whiting and the Palliative Care staff at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, for their kindness and caring towards Michael and his family.  Thank you as well to the Twin Mountains Snowmobile Club and Whitby Fire Department for their kindness and support.  Family and friends will be received at Monk Funeral Home, 6 Helen Street, Bobcaygeon, (705-738-3222 or 866-393-0063) on Sunday, February 16th, 2014 from 12 p.m until the time of the Memorial Service in the Chapel at 1 p.m.  Reception to follow at the Royal Canadian Legion 96 King St E.
