Obituary of Barbara Ann Henderson
Barbara passed away on June 22, 2019 at Hospice Peterborough. Handling the situation with the utmost dignity and grace, she sadly lost her short battle with cancer. She is missed by her husband Robert W. Howard, her son Scott Gray Henderson, her daughter-in-law Jessica Dyck, her daughter Susan Eleanor Catto (née Henderson), her son-in-law Brian Catto, and her much adored grandchildren Caleb Catto and Thea-Rose Catto.
An incredibly giving person, Barb was awarded the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers in 2017. She played an active role in supporting numerous community groups and organizations in Gloucester, Lakefield and Peterborough. After retiring from 27 years of working at Bell Canada, she and her husband completed several volunteer assignments with CESO in Lesotho, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Guyana and China. Her hard work, dedication and selfless spirit made a difference in a multitude of lives.
Barb and her family are immensely grateful to Dr. Ali Morelli and the entire Peterborough Palliative Care Team as well as the wonderful staff and volunteers at Hospice Peterborough. They were all incredibly considerate and full of compassion while guiding us through this difficult journey.
A Celebration of Barbara’s Life will be held on July 6, 2019 from 1:00-3:00 pm at Peterborough Golf & Country Club.
