Obituary of Craig Macdonald Harris

HARRIS, Craig Macdonald

September 23, 1959 - July 16, 2019 – Graduated; Lakefield College School (’78), B.A. Bishop’s University (’82), B.A. English Honours, Trent University (‘89), B.Ed. Queen’s University (’89). Craig passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at PRHC in his 60thyear. Craig started his career as a reporter for the Peterborough Examiner before following his passion as an educator. He became a teacher at Thomas A. Stewart (TASS), where he taught for over 30 years. Craig devoted much of his spare time to coaching both women’s and men’s Rugby at TASS, Trent University Women’s Rugby, as well as the Ontario Women’s Rugby Team and the Canadian University Women’s Sevens Team. Craig inspired many championship teams, notably 2006 Women’s OFSAA Gold, multiple National Championships with Ontario Women’s Rugby, and 2006 Canadian National University Sevens, who won gold in Rome. He was the founder of Peterborough Pagans Women’s Rugby team, and he was instrumental in bringing football back to TASS. Beloved husband of Kathy Harris (nee Reese) for 35 years. Loving father of Celeigh Sinclair (Greg), and Reese Harris (SarahAnn). Dear son of Ann Harris and the late Andrew Harris. Craig is survived by his brother Kelly Harris (Dawn), and Tony Harris (Lianne Laing), and many nieces and nephew and great nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place, arrangements entrusted to THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL.A Celebration of life to be held on August 8, 2019 at 3:00pm, at Thomas A.
