Obituary of Adam James Blakeley

It’s been a month since Adam died, and while it seems our grief will never end, we have been comforted by the many words of solace and acts of kindness from family and friends in Canada, America, England and Jamaica. We thank you all for your love, your prayers and your support. We appreciate that many of you took time to send sympathy cards and write messages of condolence here on Facebook – not just to us as his parents, but also to Adam’s sisters and others in the family who mourn him. The many pictures and memories that Adam’s friends and past colleagues shared on the funeral home webpage made us more aware of the impact our son had on others; and sadly, made us feel the loss of him even more. Our special gratitude to Shami, the mother of Adam’s 10-year-old son Dev. Her loving and sensitive conversations with him about his father’s death lifted a burden from our hearts. Dev was a light in Adam’s life, and their father-son bond was strong. We love Dev, and thank God that He has allowed us to continue experiencing our son through our grandson. Thank you to all who have contributed to our church’s outreach fund in Adam’s memory, and to our church family and neighbours in Buckhorn who have been here for us even as we are physically distanced due to the pandemic. We are managing, leaning on each other and our daughters to make it through the days when our grief feels fresh. We look forward to the healing power of time, for us and for all who knew and loved Adam. “Sleep on Beloved, sleep and take thy rest; Lay down thy head upon thy Saviour’s breast; We love thee well but Jesus loves thee best.” Eunice and Jim OBITUARY Adam James Blakeley February 27, 1976 to April 9, 2020 The family of Adam James Blakeley announce with sorrow his unexpected passing at the age of 44. Only son of Eunice and Jim, loving father to Dev, baby brother to Elaine, Eleanor and Andrea, and a treasured uncle, great uncle, nephew and cousin. He was dearly loved and is sorely missed. Cremation has taken place and a small family funeral service will be held. A memorial service will be held when it is safe to do so. Adam was passionate about many things, foremost the happiness of his family. He was always keenly aware of, and supported, our involvement with church. As a matter of fact when he suggested we move to Toronto he used the fact we could walk to church to bolster his argument. Moving to Buckhorn we are lucky to have found a very supportive parish at St.Matthew-St. Aidan. Unfortunately given the current environment we are all facing, several outreach fundraisers have been cancelled. St. Matthew-St. Aidan outreach supports programs such as, but not limited to, the Buckhorn School Breakfast Program, Homeward Bound, Cameron House women's shelter, disaster relief, Water for Pikangikum, Peterborough Regional Health Centre, Sleeping Children Around the World., etc. As part of this parish we would like, as much as possible, to continue our community outreach. His family asks that if you are so moved, it would be appreciated if you make a donation to the Outreach of St.Matthew-St. Aidan in memory of Adam J Blakeley. By mail: P.O. Box 177, Buckhorn, ON K0L 1J0 or Online: Via the Canada Helps website www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/st-matthew-st-aidan-anglican-church/ Thank you
