Obituary of Cecil Frederick Strang

Fred passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 7, 2008 at the age of 83. Beloved husband of Joyce for 61 years. Loving father to Fred (Heather), John (Paulette) and Joanne. Grandpa to Jon, Nicole, Ken and David. Brother to Gordon (Kay) and Marg Locke (Charlie). Fred was a veteran of WWII and the RCAF, Bell Canada employee for 38 years.He will be fondly remembered by the customers and staff at Strang’s Valu mart where he volunteered at the front of the store for many years afterwards. Throughout his life, Fred enjoyed helping others with his technical skills and was also involved with several organizations including the Boy Scouts, Scarborough and Minden Amateur Radio clubs and the Experimental Aircraft Association. Fred was a private pilot and also a Gliding instructor and taught The History of Flight with the Air Cadets. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and enjoyed helping them out whenever the opportunity presented. Fred’s Crystal Lake cottage vision and subsequent legacy serves as a living reminder of his foresight and family focus. Family and friends will be received at Monk Funeral Home, 6 Helen Street, Bobcaygeon (705-738-3222 or 866-393-0063) from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Thursday. A celebration of Fred’s life will be held at Monk Funeral Home on Friday, December 12th, 2008 at 11 a.m. The family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers of Case Manor, Bobcaygeon for making Fred’s stay as comfortable as possible.
