Obituary of David Richard Leard

Passed away suddenly on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at the age of 67.  He will be greatly missed by his wife, Jocelyne Pelland, his sister, Cathie (Frank), and his sister-in-law, Cathy. Loving uncle of Heather and Russell (Julia) and their children, Graeme, Violet and Nathan. Predeceased by his parents, Harold and Lillian (née Smith) Leard and his older brother and fishing partner, Earle. He will also be fondly remembered by his cousins, especially Wendy who lovingly referred to him as “Super Dave”, his extended family and friends. David spent most of his life in Ottawa where he worked as a service manager and then a territory salesperson. He loved boating, fishing and spending time with his family and friends at Lac Bernard and Jack’s Lake in Apsley. He and his brother Earle enjoyed grilling “thick slabs of meat” on the barbecue at the cottage, accompanied by his signature Caesars, both in drink and salad form. David and his brother were well known as the “Beef Brothers”. David was a great lover of music, attended many concerts and he created his own listening parties at home for friends and family, cranking out his favourite tunes loudly on his beloved Tannoys. He also had a passion for fast cars, the Barret Johnson car auction and the NHRA. David loved animals and Kitty had a special place in his heart. At David’s request there will be a celebration of life at a later date. Interment will take place in Apsley. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to The Lanark Animal Welfare Society or The Ottawa Mission would be greatly appreciated.
