McCONNELL BRUCE EDWARD At P.R.H.C. Hospital Dr. on Friday, December 13, 2002, Bruce McConnell of Lakefield in his 74th year husband of the late Betty (Moore). Loving father of Shirley (Robert Elmsely) and Linda and all of Peterborough, Bill McConnell and Brenda McConnell (Jerry Jessup) all of Lakefield and the late Robert McConnell. Also survived by 12 grandchidlren and 12 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Ken (Marie), Pauline (Roger Wilson), Shirley (Vic Graham), Christina (Don Covel), and the late Vic, Bob and Del McConnell. Brother -in-law of Grenny and Helen McConnell. On August 11, 1929 BRUCE EDWARD McCONNELL was born in Emily Twp, son of the late PENIGAN McCONNELL & FLORENA CARR. When Bruce was very young he moved with his family to Peterborough where he attended Confederation School. Bruce started his working career at Little Lake Cemetery. Later he worked as a truck driver for Dan McKay for 4 years and then spent 14 years driving for Fred Nelson in Keene. For 32 years since 1969 he had been employed by Joe Sabatino at the Lakefield Laundrymat. In 1946 Bruce married ELIZABETH JUNE MOORE in Peterborough where they lived until the mid 1950a??s when they moved to Lakefield. June passed away on April 6, 1996.
Bruce lived a very quiet life, always staying close to home and family. Raising his family was his top priority. In his younger years Bruce had liked to play hockey and go to the movies and in later years to watch movies and soaps on TV.
On December 13, 2002 Bruce passed away at Peterborough Regional Health Centre.
Survived by his children SHIRLEY (ROBERT ELMSELY), LINDA, BILL & BRENDA (JERRY JESSUP); 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Also missed by his brother KENNY (MARIE); and sisters PAULINE (ROGER WILSON), SHIRLEY (VIC GRAHAM) & CHRISTINA (DON COVAL) and sisters-in-law of HELEN & GRENNY McCONNELL. Predeceased by his parents PENIGAN & FLORENA McCONNELL; wife BETTY; brothers DEL, BOB & VIC McCONNELL; and son ROBERT McCONNELL
