Obituary of Bertha Minshall

Minshall: Bertha Lenna (Caldwell) Died peacefully at her home in Lakefield on Monday July 14th 2008 holding hands with the love of her life, 'Min' four days before their 67th wedding anniversary. Her ever-cheerful, humorous, optimistic approach to life touched all who enjoyed the privilege of knowing her. She will be sadly missed by her soul-mate David Lloyd Minshall, her 4 children; Patricia Robinson (Paul), Betty Jane Boniakowski (Frank), David Minshall (Val McGriskin), and Bill Minshall; her 9 grandchildren, Jonathan Robinson (Terra), Julie Lang (Bill), Michael Boniakowski (Alicia), Geoffrey Boniakowski (Angela), Eric Minshall (C.J.), John Minshall, Meredith Minshall, Jennifer Watson and Melinda McGriskin, and her 2 great grandchildren Charlotte Watson and Rebecca Lang. Bertha was predeceased by her 3 sisters; Jane Caldwell, Hester Fulford, and Elizabeth Agro. Bertha enjoyed a teaching career in the Ottawa Valley, Oakville, Kitchener and East York. She retired to Lakefield where she developed a passion for walking. She quickly became known as 'the lady who walks'. Her interest in people and her zest for life made a simple stroll down Queen St. a major social event. Friends are invited to call at the HENDREN FUNERAL HOME, Lakefield on Thursday July 17, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9. A funeral service will be held at Lakefield United Church on Friday July 18, 2008 at 1 pm. Reverend Warren Vollmer officiating. Burial of cremated remains will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Brantford at a later date. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the Lakefield United Church Memorial Fund or Lakefield Community Care as expressions of sympathy.
