Obituary of Charles Townsend

Michael Townsend of Lakefield passed away suddenly in his 77th year as the result of a heart attack at Stony Lake on Wednesday May 26, 2010. Michael was a valued and dedicated volunteer with many organizations. His presence around Lakefield will be missed by the many he met along his walks through the village. His greatest joys were sailing, paddling, working with the disabled and his tireless work with the Lakefield and Peterborough Historical Societies. Loving husband of the late Nora (Cameron) (1994). Survived by his sisters Alison Anne Cook ""Sonny"", Joan Elizabeth ""Joanie"" Alison (Thomas Appleton) and his step-son James Michael McKay of Calgary. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother Peter and his parents. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Michael's Life will be at the Lakefield College School on Friday August 20th, 2010 at 4:00 PM. Memorial donations may be made to the Lakefield or Peterborough Historical Societies or the Disabled Sailing Association of Ontario as expressions of sympathy.
