Obituary of Neill Anthony Joseph Browne
We are heartbroken to share that Neill Browne passed away suddenly, May 28, 2020, at his beloved cottage.
Neill will forever be remembered by his loving partner and best friend, Kathy Pearsall, with whom he spent 23 wonderful years. Together they travelled extensively but always returned to Stoney Lake where he golfed, fished and cooked amazing meals for friends and family. It was Neill’s happy place.
Neill is survived by his son and golf partner Seamus and his two adoring grandchildren Kailey and Conor, as well as daughter Tara (Patrick) and their children Alexandra, Emily, Paige and Braden.
Predeceased by his parents Carmen and Leo, and father-in-law Percy, brother Brian (Carole), and sister Francis. Neill will be deeply missed by brother Terry (Christina), mother-in-law Marjory Pearsall, and brothers-in-law Phil (Ginny) and John (Sylvia), in addition to his many beloved nieces and nephews, extended family, former colleagues and friends.
Neill dedicated over 30 years to CBC, finding his true calling in television drama. His legacy includes feature films, Movies of the Week, and later, in retirement as a freelance producer, on a popular dramatic TV series. Over the course of his career he made life-long friends across the industry, earning the handle “Downtown Neill Browne” - a name that stuck though to his last days.
Bigger than life, Neill had a story for every occasion and on occasion was featured in several stories himself. Arrangements entrusted to THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL. A Celebration of Life to honour Neill’s spirit and to share cherished memories will be held when physical distancing restrictions are no longer a concern. If desired, memorial donations may be made to Peterborough Regional Health Centre by visiting www.hendrenfuneralhome.com or by calling 705-652-3355.
