Dear Gary,
I had this letter prepared to bring to you on your birthday (March 30th), but as the angels have decided to take you from us far earlier than we anticipated, allow me to share these thoughts with all those who loved you.
I don't think I ever had the opportunity to thank you enough for being a wonderful, endearing husband to my Mother, and for being so gracious in accepting her 'band of misfits' (myself included) as your own.
I remember the first time I met you...my Mother was so proud to introduce you to me, she was like a schoolgirl in love with a rock star! Although I was skeptical at first, I realized, over time, that you would indeed be the one true, solid love of her life, and I cannot ever thank you enough for letting her feel what true love really was...and all that it could be.

Gary, although you were not my biological father, you were the closest thing to a real "Dad" that I've ever had, as you seemed to know more about taking care of your 'family' and being a kind , considerate, compassionate and loving husband / father figure then any of us could have ever imagined.
Gary, my heart is heavy with sadness because you left us far too soon, but bursting with joy, and sincere gratitude, for this world giving us the opportunity to know such a beautiful, wonderful, kind and gentle man that we will always love, admire, respect and know as Gary William Trumble.
I will miss you tremendously, and will always love you dearly.

Gary, you were a bright and wonderful man. The room was never quiet when you were around and your jokes helped fill Christmas with laughter. It will never be the same without you and you will be sorely missed. Thank you for taking care of Grandma and being her best friend throughout the years. Thank you for making us grandkids feel like your own. Although you were Gary, you were Grandpa in every sense of the word. We love you and miss you.

Dear Gary,
I want you to know just how very much we all loved you. Your infectious giggle and great big smile made us all feel like we were all very special.
Christmas time will never be the same. Your effort to come up with some interactive games knowing you were doing your best to pull us in just a bit closer together.
I shared with you more than a few times how much I appreciated the deep love and companionship you had for my mother. She was so deserving and you made this happen. I know you will be deeply missed but you count on my mom to ensure you will never be forgotten.

Dear Carole, Carol, Janet and family, I am truly sorry to hear about Gary’s passing. I must admit that I was shocked. Carole, I am glad that Gary had you to take care of him. I have many memories of Gary growing up as we were the closest in age out of all of the cousins. I enjoyed our family visits to Norwood to spend time with all of you and your visits back to our home in the summer. On a couple of visits I made as a younger adult there, Gary and I would stay up to the wee hours of the morning enjoying our broad range of conversation and looking at all of the old family photo albums that Aunt Mary had put together. It was truly fun and I will cherish those memories. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
