Billy and me.
Say, Bill.
I’m so sorry you died, but I’m so glad you lived.
I’m glad I had you as a father-in-law.
I’m glad you raised the beautiful girl who became my wife.
I’m glad you accepted a transfer to Quebec, so I could meet my beautiful wife.
I’m glad you showed her and me what being a good father meant.
I’m glad you had such a great sense of humor. You came out with some classic lines that I’ll never forget.
Like the time you were walking down the hall at the hospital , wearing that gown with your backside exposed, and you turned and said, “ It pays to advertise ! “
Or each time you came out of the shower feeling refreshed you would comment: “ Just like Elizabeth Taylor says each year, “ I feel like a new man.”
I’m glad you helped me get a job when I needed one, and my wife, and so many others. You always helped.
I’m glad you were so calm, patient, and even-tempered, showing me qualities in a man I rarely saw before.
I’m glad you had many years of retirement in Victoria, and we got to visit often.
I’m glad you were a great host. Every time we visited, you made sure we were comfortable and that we had a great time, which we always did. We have so many great memories from those days. You always loved to show us around. You brought us to see amazing places that few people know about, and we always looked forward to the next adventure. I always thought you should be a tour guide.
I’m glad we got to live close to you in the last several months here, and got to see you often, and help out a bit.
I’ll be glad to see you in heaven, and you can show me around.

"Nothing but your best" was a GM motto that you lived by PaPa.
You always encouraged us to do everything that we could and not to measure our lives by our failures as all was well if we did our best, carried on and never lost hope.
Dad you ran a good race and did your best to care for us. In this life I will miss you, but I am comforted that we will be together again in heaven. We have this hope and that is where I find my comfort and solace.
You carried me as a child and held me securely in your arms while you taught me to skate, ride my bike and especially when you saved me from drowning. I was always safe in your arms. Now you are safe in the arms of Jesus and your Heavenly Father is taking care of you. I will always have you in my heart and you will always be a part of me because I would not be me without you. I will always love you and treasure you.
This is not a good bye but one step towards eternity because you're already there.
love Sandi

Reassurance comes with knowing that you are now at peace. Our family will continue to share our fond memories of you with each other. You will never be forgotten. My favourite is how you had so little patience and so few words, but spend hours taming a tiny chipmunk to eat from the palm of your hand. Grampa loved animals so much and when he saw any small fluffy creature, his face would light up with a smile! "ohhh little Scallwag!", he used to say... My next little pup will be named after this memory..."Scallywag" :) With love and prayers for all of our family, Jesse xo
