I know you probably do not know who I am. My name is Micheal Hall and my father worked on the locks just down from Vince and Margeret's House on the River Road. We move to Michigan after my father drowned in Lakefield. We always came back to Buckhorn every summer to visit my grandparents but a visit to Canada was not complete until we stopped to see Vince and Margerete and the boys. I have fond memories of him and the rest of the family and heard that Th had also passed away not long after that. I had just seen him at Vince house before he passed away and he still remembered me. It was nice seeing him because I had not seen him in years. Not sure if it was your Mum who had the car and the smoke bomb. Maybe some day you willread this and I knew he had passed but have forgotten all about it

We are saddened to hear of Maurice passing away . As a neighbour he was the best. I remember in 1972 when my uncle Ray died tragically, Maurice was the first one in our laneway to offer help and he did stay and help us kids do the chores while mom and dad were frantic. As a kid Maurice helped me with my swine 4 H projects as I had no experience with pigs. Now that I'm older I appreciate that even more. I always admired him because he was always very humble but when you stand back and think he quietly raised a large solid family and ran a large farm . As I drive by his cows, they are exactly what I strive for .
Douro will miss Maurice . Even lately he has been over to take Dad out on outings. Our thoughts are with Cathy and the family. They deserved to have such a great husband and dad.

Dear Cathy and Family,
My sincere sympathy and condolences on the death of Maurice. He was such a humble and gentle man and I so admired him. I will always have fond memories of the time I said the Rosary with him and upon hearing the story of the "attack" (I've never laughed so hard) on another occasion. He was such a sport when I teased him!
