Gerry was a teacher of both Helen and I and we both remember him as the best teacher in the Industrial Design programs at both Humber and OCA. He was serious about his work, but also very human and genuine. Tough love would be the popular way to say it! He was a great teacher because he had a deep base of experience that he shared generously. In short he was a great role model for a designer or a teacher. He is sorely missed by us and we extend our deep sympathies to his family and friends..

Dearest Beekenkamp family, while I never had the chance to know any of the Gerry's family, I wanted you to know what an impact Gerry had on me as my teacher at the Ontario College of Art and Design. The knowledge he passed on to me along with the needed perseverance in the pursuit of good design ultimately made my career possible. I struggled in his class and even failed once but I learned more from him through that process than from anything else in the Industrial Design program. I use what he taught me every single day in my work. What a truly great man. I will be forever thankful.

Our thoughts are with Joanne and all the Beekenkamp family.
Gerry was a wonderful neighbour & friend. He was one of the first people we met when we moved to Port 32 eight years ago and we so enjoyed getting to know him better & hearing about all his life experiences. He will certainly be missed by many in our community.

Dear Karen & the Beekenkamp Family,
I am so very sorry for your loss. I never met Mr. Beekenkamp, but he raised great daughters and was clearly at the centre of a warm and caring family. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

Karen... I am so sorry and sad to hear the news of your dad's passing. My heart & thoughts are with you and your family at this time. I smile when I think about the weekends at your family cottage, stories of and seeing what came out of your dad's wonderful creative mind. May you find comfort with memories of your dad...

My condolences to the wonderful Beekenkamp family during this difficult time. The few times I met him, he was kind and charming. His passion and love for family and architecture were always readily apparent - in the beautiful and brilliant staircase he designed at the cottage to the help he provided to Karen in many aspects of her new condo and many examples of being a great dad and grandfather, I've heard over the years. He raised an amazing daughter, in the wonderful friend I have in Karen. Hugs to you all.
