My Heart is heavy for condolescnes for the Potwin family. This is a short note as I could go on for so many pages. John, you loved life and life loved you. And you loved and respected your boys with passion and dignity. You touched many people and we will always think of you and miss you dearly.

Douglas, David, Robert and Michael, just a note to say how wonderful your father was to me when I worked as his assistant at Smith, Lyons. He took a chance on me as I had no legal experience but we had a great working relationship and he made it possible for me as a single parent to make a better live for my children but encouraging me to go to night school and get my law clerks standing. Every day working with him was a journey through life filled with fun and laughter. When he moved to BFI in Texas he even invited me down to spend four days at his home and gave me the grand tour of BFI, his club and boating.
Robert what a wonderful tribute to your father and in the six years with him I can truly say he loved all four of your boys with all his heart. I even had the pleasure of going with him a couple of times to help with gift choices for birthdays and Christmas.
He will be truly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him.

John and I practised law together in Toronto through the mid-seventies. He was a great and talented lawyer, but open and natural, in no way stuffy. I appreciated his irreverent sense of humour and always enjoyed his social company, often with his mentor Chisholm Lyons Q.C.

My sincere condolences on the sudden loss of your husband and Dad. John was one of the kindest and funniest person I have ever met. I shall miss his insatiable curiosity and his smile as he asked yet another question. A great man has left us! He will be greatly missed! I do hope the many cherished memories you have of John will comfort you today and always.

I know we didn't see you both much, but thought of you all often.
John was a special man who brought such joy to a room .He so loved his beautiful wife . He is someone who has touched the hearts of many and will sadly be missed .

John was a valuable asset to our Board of Directors of the Cavendish Community Ratepayers Association. More importantly he was a good friend to us all and was a person that everyone enjoyed being around and getting to know.
I recall once talking with John about the right temperature of the water for swimming and he commented to me in his usual frank manner that he didn't care what the temperature of the water was because he did not need to swim in the water or boat in the water, what he loved to do was look at the water, and hopefully that was what he was doing.

Oh Lynn, we heard the terrible news and are so very sorry at this time. We know how much Emrik and Pia would want to be here for you but are in Holland until May 24th.
We are not able to travel to Bobcaygeon at this time to represent the Suichies clan but hope to see you once some time has passed.

Dear Lynn, Carol and families,
Our deepest sympathies to you at this most painful of times. Memories go back nearly 70 years. Always fun when we young cousins were together for big family holiday celebrations. We will always be grateful that John and sister, Carol, made the trip to our celebration last summer. May your sorrow be eased by your fond memories and may we meet again to reminisce.

Dear Lynn and family. Over the decades we have so enjoyed the rich experiences of times shared with John and you. Such a unique character. We will miss him greatly and our hearts go out to you with our condolences and love.
For a guy who was in my heart for 43 years. John and I met as I was selling my first company, he asked only, "Jim, do you want to do this deal" and I res[ponded "yes," he then said he would get it done and did! We instantly loved each other, I loved his brilliance which stood out behind those fabulous eyes and sincere snicker!
This is a loss, we talked on email just recently and I planned to come up to the farm to get a hug!
I am in tears and feel a great loss!
