WW2 Veteran: Reconnaissance Company 803rd Tank Destroyer Battalion US Armed Forces
Vimy Ridge
As the morning sun begins to rise
The air fills with war cries
As the soldiers come running down the hill
The enemies in their trenches are ready to kill
As bombs drop down like rain
All the soldiers scream in pain
As some lie dead and wounded covered in blood
The rest get up and trudge through the mud
As our soldiers begin to open fire
The noise on the battlefield gets even higher
As bullets wiz by the enemies heads
Many of them now lay dead
With the enemy now realizing they can’t win
Our soldiers come pouring in
The enemy finally begins to retreat
Thinking to themselves what a humiliating defeat
Many have said winning was something we couldn’t do
But we raised our heads and said “watch us, we will too”
