So sorry to hear about your Dad.
In 1963 your Father moved the family to East Longmeadow to become our football coach and P.E. Teacher. As a senior and one of the team captains, I was fortunate to come under his tutelage.
He was such a great coach and role model, that I followed him at Springfield College and also became a P.E. Teacher and football coach.
I am sure he will be very missed by many!

I remember in 1971 when Coach Ves, as my faculty adviser, called me that summer and asked me if I would like to be the first ever student athletic trainer at Acadia following a semester with him in Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries. What followed was a 6 memorable year stint with the Acadia football program in a number of capacities. He was a wonderful teacher who had a way of simplifying and getting his point across. He was instrumental in shaping my 32 years of high school teaching and coaching in the Wolfville area. I remember the family well from their years growing up in Wolfville and send along my sincerest condolences to all. He will be missed.

Dear Sheila and family,
Bob and I shared many, many laughs together, he had a wonderful sense of humor and a passion for life. He always found time to talk about his family and how proud he was of you all. Coach V. has left a lasting impression on everyone he worked with, mentored and had the pleasure of being coached by him. Bob always found time for others especially his players, and younger coaches. He was a teacher and wanted each of his players to have role and to feel valued. He had a gift and he shared it with us all. His unique and spirited football terminology will last forever. Captain of the "A" gap.
We spoke just before Christmas when he was here visiting family and friends on the west coast. Of course football was discussed and how his career was often in the hands of others. He now rests in the hands of God.
To his family, may the memories of Coach V. and the love of family surround you and give you strength in the days ahead.
Thank you for sharing the Hall of Fame life of Bobby V. with our family.

If
If you're lucky enough... once in your life time, your path will cross with someone who will have such a profound impact on your inner self, that your life will be changed forever. Your eyes will be opened and you will understand what it means to believe in yourself and in your untapped potential... you will know how much hard work, dedication, determination and teamwork it takes to be successful... but more importantly, you will learn how to conduct yourself even when you don't succeed.
I was both blessed and lucky enough to first cross paths with Coach 'Ves' in the summer of '75, and from the moment I met him, I realized I was in the presence of a man of character. To say I wasn't intimidated, would be the furthest thing from the truth... I was scared sh**less... but I also sensed that there was a fairness about the man... somebody who wouldn't expect more from me, than he would from himself... somebody who I could trust... both on and off the field.
I often think back to some of the things I did during those years, and I wonder how I would have reacted, if I were in 'Ves' sneakers... I know for a fact, that I wouldn't have handled it very well. We all know that as a coach you sometimes needed to wear your heart on your sleeve... and although he could rant and rave, and yes he could even explode at times, (ie. X by 10)... it was when 'Ves' was quiet, that was the most disconcerting. You felt as if you had let him down... and that hurt you more than any screaming and shouting could ever do... and so you played... you played for the guys beside you... you played for the team... but most of all you played for 'Ves'... and along the way, you learned something about yourself.
In the 3 years that I played for 'Ves', a lifetime of memories were created... some good ones and some not-so-good ones... but there isn't one thing I would ever change or trade in... I learned just as much from every defeat as I did from each victory... it's one of the more important things that he taught me.
I know, that because of my exposure to the coach, I realized goals and levels of achievement, that I thought I could only dream of... but it was my exposure to the man, although unbeknownst to me at the time, that shaped me into the person I've become... and for that I can't thank him enough.
To Sheila, his children and his entire family, I extend my deepest sympathy's... I know it's hard to lose someone as dynamic and passionate about life as 'Ves' was... but hopefully you can find comfort, in knowing, that by the many people he touched and influenced in his lifetime, 'Ves' will live on in others.
To Coach Ves... Thank You for Everything... Axemen Forever...

Dear Sheila and family,
Bob was a ray of sunshine in every room that he entered. His smile and laugh brightened even the darkest day.
We first met in 1981 at a coaching clinic in Winnipeg. He was always generous with his time and knowledge. Bob was a great supporter of amateur football coaches throughout Canada. Bob helped me get my first job with the Blue Bombers and I was fortunate to work directly under his mentorship.
My wife and I had Bob to dinner at our home in Hamilton in 1999 the night before we played against his Stampeders. We last visited in 2009 when he was coaching at Queens.
I will be forever grateful for all that Bob did for me.
I hope you have many great memories of a great man.
With deepest sympathies.

Dearest Sheila and Family,
What can we say about the sad news of Bob's passing. He was a light that shone on everyone he came into contact with in his life. There are no words to describe how he made you feel. His stories and the laughter he shared with others personified his huge heart. There are so many stories and memories to share and we promise to keep Bob alive in our hearts and minds by sharing those stories.
Family, friends and all who knew Bob directly - or indirectly - will forever miss him. Our parents - Oscar and Eleanor Caroglanian - and Auntie Queenie (Aykanian) and other family/friends send expressions of sympathy to you all.
May God's eternal light perpetually shine upon Bob. We will continue to keep you in our thoughts and prayers during the difficult days ahead.
Forever in love and laughter,

I am going to miss all those days when you would show up in the office and bless us all with your knowledge of the game and wisdom on life. I pray for Sheila and the rest of the family during this time but I celebrate the time and friendship I had with such a great man. RIP Coach Ves

Mrs Ves and Family... Unlike most my experience as boarder may have given me a slightly more family orientation. And certainly a great family. One memory that sticks out is my late night entries through a darkened kitchen (coming from library no doubt) to find Coach Ves at the counter reviewing game film projected as a 12 inch square on the adjacent wall - he was a very dedicated coach, and a man I respected and liked a lot. That was 44 years ago. Wow. And to Mrs Ves, thanks for regularly covering for me - Judy still jokes about that when we're with friends from those days. I hope now it helps to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you, and that you celebrate the life of a man you all loved. ...Mike Bugden

I just wanted to express my sorrow and send prayers and condolences to the entire family. I had the great blessing of havin Bob as a coach, and can honestly say he was one of the nicest men I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Always a smile and a laugh. RIP Bob. You will be missed. d

My condolences to Bob's family. He was my first pro coach when I was drafted by Winnipeg in 1983. He was an excellent teacher and taught me much about football and life as a young man. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. RIP Bob.
