Obituary of Martin John Medland

MEDLAND: Martin John “Marty”

Passed away suddenly at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Tuesday March 6, 2018.  Martin Medland of Lakefield in his 60^th year.  Martin had many careers throughout his life where he met some great friends along the way. His most recent career, as a Senior Metallurgist Technologist, began at MinnovEX Technologies Inc., where he was a longtime dedicated employee before transferring to SGS in Lakefield, where he continued his career.  Martin was an avid Boston Bruins fan and enjoyed the years that his life revolved around the rink.  He is loved and missed by his wife Yvonne (nee Van Frankfoort) and his children Kristen of Lakefield, Cameron (Rebecca) of Apsley and Katelyn of Lakefield.  Also missed by his brothers Fred (Cherie) of Madoc, Jim (Cathie) of Lakefield, sister Karen McFadden (David) of Lakefield, sisters-in-law Julie Dracup-Hill (Wayne), Wendy Van Frankfoort-Field (Rob), brother-in-law Terry Van Frankfoort (Cindy) and mother-in-law Riet Van Tol (Bill).  Remembered by many nieces, nephews and his dogs Shady and Bella.  Predeceased by his parents Bill & Jackie, brothers Mark (Heather) and Mike, sister-in-law Lynda Doyle and father-in-law Cees Van Frankfoort.  Cremation has taken place.  A Celebration of Martin’s Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 77, 10 Nicholls St., Lakefield on Sunday April 8, 2018 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM, with memories shared at 2:30 PM.  Memorial donations may be made to Jumpstart as expressions of sympathy and may be made by contacting THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL, 66 Queen Street, Lakefield at www.hendrenfuneralhome.com or by calling 705-652-3355.
