Obituary of Elmer Sweeting

Passed away peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Center on March 27^th.   Elmer of Selwyn in his 93^rd year.    Elmer enjoyed hockey and baseball and watching his grandchildren play sports.  Elmer devoted much of his working life to driving dump trucks.  Beloved husband of Donna Sweeting (nee Coones) for 63 years.  Loving father of Warren Sweeting (Virginia).  Dear grandpa of Kurtis (Becky), Michelle (Chris), Danielle (Evan) and Chase. Dearly missed by great- grandchildren Beckett and Anderson.  Survived by Siblings Ivan, Yvonne Bennett (Art), Harold, Arnold (Jean), Roger, Earl (Marg), Darlene Armstrong (Harry) and brother-in-law Jim Dearing.  Predeceased by parents Chalmer and Margaret Sweeting (nee Hurl), brothers Ellwood, and Donald, sisters Laurietta and Sheila Dearing and sister-in-law Jean.  A Celebration of Elmer’s life will be held on Monday April 1^st at 1:00PM at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOME-LAKEFIELD CHAPEL, 66 Queen Street, with visitation to commence at 11:00 AM.  A reception will follow in the Heritage Room of the funeral home after the service.  The family would like to thank the staff at the PRHC palliative care unit for all their care and attentiveness to Elmer in his last days. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society, by visiting www.hendrenfuneralhome.com or by calling (705) 652-3355.
