Obituary of Loretta Ann Leonard

Loretta (Reccy) Leonard passed away at home in the early hours on September 12, 2019, in Bobcaygeon, Ontario. Loved and dearly missed by sisters Barbara Sherwin, Helen Vozza, Yvonne Nearing and predeceased by sisters Geraldine Henderson, Rose, Rene Small, Jeanne Seymour, Lucille Lafrance, Beatrice Ann and Ruth McGill. Remembered with much love by her many nieces and nephews. 

Loretta was born on October 11, 1935, in Toronto to Katherine (McMurray) and Emile Leonard. She was the eighth child in a family of 10 girls. Loretta became a teacher at the age of 19 and spent much of her career teaching in the Toronto Catholic District School Board. Loretta was a born teacher who was inspired to help those she met to reach their full potential. She retired from teaching to Bobcaygeon in the 1990s. We will all have many fond memories of summers and holidays at the girls’ cottage with family and friends. 

Friends and relatives may call at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, MONK CHAPEL, 6 Helen Street, Bobcaygeon, on Friday September 20 from 7:00 – 9:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace, 18 Need Street, Bobcaygeon, on Saturday September 21, 2019 at 11:00 AM. A reception will follow in the parish hall of the church. In lieu of donations, Reccy would have loved for you to perform a random act of kindness for someone.
