Obituary of Doris Colleen Johnston

JOHNSTON, Doris Colleen (Whitton)
An avid traveller, quilter, lifetime member of the IODE and matriarch to her family, Doris departed on her final journey.  Peacefully, in her 84th year, at the Burnbrae Gardens in Campbellford on November 16th. Predeceased by her loving husband Don.  Doris and Don both grew up in Campbellford but became long time residents of Norwood, where Doris operated a hair dressing business and considered every client a friend.  Doris and Don travelled criss-cross North America in their RV, often spending their winters in Texas.  Even after parking their RV, Don and Doris continued travelling. Proud mother to Kenneth Johnston (Andrea) of Halifax and Kelvin Johnston (Evelyn) of Newmarket. Indulgent Nana to 7 Grandchildren, Taylor, Ellie, Kelsey, Kennedy, Evan, Ethan and Keatyn.  Predeceased by her parents Wilbert and Elsie (McFaul) and her brother William (Bill).  Survived by sisters Shirley Simpson (Paul), Gayle Grills (George), Sheilda Owens (Maurice), and brothers Neil Whitton (Elspeth) and David.  She was Aunt Doris to many nieces and nephews. Doris now joins Don in this, her last journey. A Celebration of Doris’ Life will be held at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, NORWOOD CHAPEL, 36 Queen Street, on Sunday November 24th, 2019 from 1:00-3:30 PM.
