WHEELER, Daniel “Dan” Lucien
Dan Wheeler, 69, of Bancroft, Ontario, passed away on February 10, 2020 after a brave and determined battle with cancer. Dan was born in Timmins, Ontario, on August 30, 1950. Dan enjoyed his life in Northern Ontario communities such as Timmins, South Porcupine, Matheson, Moose Factory and then moved south to North Bay and Bancroft where he enjoyed his retirement years. Dan worked in the automotive field where he had an amazing memory for finding the right part for almost any car or truck application and was a skilled mechanic. His hobbies included gardening, photography and foremost model railroading. Dan was recognized as a very skilled and talented model builder. In his retirement years, he got great enjoyment driving a school bus for children as he enjoyed being around children of all ages. Dan is survived by his sister Denise Pilon (Clement), brother Robert Wheeler, niece Michelle Wheeler, nephews Marc Wheeler, Father JP Pilon, and Bruce Pilon and other family and friends. He is predeceased by his parents Elmer and Madeleine Wheeler and sister-in-law Halina Wheeler (Robert). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul’s R.C. Church, Norwood on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 1:00 PM, visitation to commence one-hour prior, Father Anthony Lawrence of the Cross, SSNJ, will be officiating. Cremation will follow. Interment held at a later date in the Pilon family plot in French River, Ontario. The family wished to thank the staff at Kingston General Hospital and Cancer Center as well and the Medical Staff in Bancroft for helping Dan brave his illnesss.
