I remember the years we spent together in sea scouts and cubs.Later in life we shared our enthousiasm for cars .George had a 1966 dodge, his pride and joy, which was fast but I thought rode like a lumber wagon because of the stiff suspension. Then I purchased a 1967 dodge as well and we would often meet around town while cruising just to chat about our cars and things happening at the time.I vividly recall when he was apprenticing for mechanic with Matt Reid also for whom he and I had a great respect for. Matt did not have a hoist in his garage by the old feed mill so it was jacks and stands and working under the vehicle on one's back on a creeper.Often he would be rebuilding an engine when I dropped in.If one had a question about a vehicle.s workings George was the man to ask because he would always give an honest opinion.George my friend there are many fond memories and though we separated for many years drawn by our individual endeavours we had those memories always on call when needed. You will always be remembered by me as a close friend and ally and I will think of you aften.May God bless you and keep you.Rest in peace

It was good to be able to watch George’s service yesterday. Thank you to everyone at Hendren for sharing it online and for keeping up the good work.
I also want to send my condolences to Barb, Holly, Kim, and the many people I know who are going to be missing George. I was blessed to get to know this Lakefield legend during my time at St. Andrew’s. Several years have gone by but he always kept in touch. I’m going to miss his updates and his jokes. I’m going to miss George.
Wishing you all God’s peace in Christ.

My deepest love and condolences are being sent to the entire family. I knew George for over 20 years and he was always so wonderful and full of happiness and fun and always had an amazing smile. His generosity to the community was never ending. I will always remember him as one of "The Good Old Boys" with Bob Downey and J.P. ,Jim Galvin and good old Gary. Lynda Maschke and I used to sell tickets for them for The Lions at all the events in Lakefield and was so much fun. They were always so happy at our huge sales! Now they are together again and no doubt an amazing reunion. May God watch over you always George. You are one in a million and I will miss you dearly.
With heartfelt sympathy and great memories
Love from Lee Evelyn

There are not a lot of truly "Stand Up" people in this world, people that you don't need a contract with, their word is all you need, George was the epitome of that, I'm glad to have had him as friend and coworker, he was a mentor, a role model and he made me a better person, I will miss him
