On Monday, February 22, 2021, Al (Alphonse) Power, father, brother, cousin, uncle, friend, and proud Papa passed away peacefully at the age of 79 years in the palliative unit at Lindsay Ross Memorial Hospital. Though to many the end came quite suddenly, the truth is Al had been in a prolonged battle with multiple types of cancer that he fought with the quiet grace and otherworldly strength that were the hallmarks of his character. They didn’t make them any tougher.
Al is reunited with his beloved wife Fran, daughter Julie, brother Pat, and we can only presume his little dog Bogie that once tried to bite his baby contest winning miracle of a son in the face. Somehow it was the son’s fault. Al will be forever remembered by his eldest son Michael and daughter-in-law Dianne from Phoenix, and son Derek, daughter-in-law Janice, and his beautiful grandchildren Ashlyn, Declan, and Julia. Uncle Al, or "Big Al", was a force and a presence that will be remembered and missed by his wonderful extended family, former co-workers, and his many curling, golf, and hunting buddies that he enjoyed so much.
Visitation will be held at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, Monk Chapel, 6 Helen St. Bobcaygeon on Saturday February 27, 2021 from 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM.
