Obituary of Jan Lawson Bucknell
Passed away suddenly at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at the age of 67. Jan was a skilled outdoorsman who enjoyed every opportunity he had to hunt and fish. He was a remarkable carpenter, had a love for music and playing the guitar, and was an avid Montreal Canadiens fan. Jan had a kind and gentle soul that echoed throughout his family, friends, and community.
Jan will be forever loved and missed by his wife of 41 years, Shelley (née McCue). Proud father of Brent (Summer) and cherished ‘Bap’ of Kamren and Ryleigh. Loving brother of Dave, Jim (Marilyn), and Jane Jacobs (Lenny). Friend and brother-in-law of Mike (Lori), Wendy (Rick), Wendell (Joanne), and the late Brent McCue. He will be missed by his aunt, Gloria and the extended Lawson family. Jan was a special uncle to many nieces and nephews, and of Addy and Marcus Taylor. Predeceased by his parents, Walter and Gladys (née Lawson) Bucknell, his parents-in-law, Wendell and Carol McCue, and his brother-in-law and friend, Brent McCue. Jan will be remembered by the all native, Team Ontario Stingrays he coached that won the ‘King of the Rings’ tournament, and by his many friends.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will take place at the Curve Lake Church on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 1:00 PM. You are invited to join the family at the Curve Lake Community Centre following the service.
