Passed away at the P.R.H.C. on Tuesday September 7, 2021.  Jeannie McWhinnie (nee Coats), of Norwood in her 88^th year.  Jeannie was long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #300, Norwood and the Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary.  She was a dedicated employee of the Red Cross, serving families throughout the Peterborough area for 24 years.  Loved and missed by her husband of 67 years, Robert McWhinnie.  Also missed by her children, Frazer (Zita) of Burlington and Sheena Nesbitt-McWhinnie (Kevin) of Bobcaygeon.  Loving grandmother of Cory, Robby, Kevin and Justin McWhinnie and great grandmother of Mackson, Jaxx and Felix.  Survived by her sister Fay Currie, sister-in-law Ina Coats and many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by her son Charles (2009) and brothers Charlie Coats and Samuel Coats (Sadie).  Relatives and friends may call at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOME, NORWOOD CHAPEL, 36 Queen Street, Norwood on Tuesday September 14, 2021 from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM.  Due to Covid-19, you are asked to register to attend the visitation by clicking on the link available on Jeannie’s Memorial Page at www.hendrenfuneralhome.com.  A private funeral service will follow in the chapel at 1:00 PM.  Interment Asphodel-Norwood Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society as expressions of sympathy and may be made by contacting the funeral home at www.hendrenfuneralhome.comor by calling 705-639-5322.
