Obituary of Valentin Berdin
BERDIN, Valentin “Wally”
Wally was born January 30, 1937 in Yugoslavia and passed away September 18, 2021 in Lindsay, Ontario. He was the loving husband of Monica who predeceased him in 2019. Wally will be missed by his sons Randy and Jeff (Shelly) and his grandchildren Allison and Cameron Berdin. His siblings Helen, Maria, Rosa, Klara, Angela, Steve and their families in Europe are also left to mourn his passing. Wally was also predeceased by his sister Anna.
Wally arrived in Canada in 1957 as a young man with only a suitcase and dreams of building a better life. Wally and Monica worked hard to achieve their dream of building their lakefront retirement home in Bobcaygeon where they enjoyed many happy years. Wally was most content being at home in Bobcaygeon with Monica, with a daily walk to the Tim Horton’s for coffee, stopping to chat with neighbours along the way and visiting the library in town to check out the latest how-to or bestseller. Opi was a proud grandfather and enjoyed following along with Allie’s schooling and attending many of Cam’s hockey games. We will miss Opi’s laugh & quick wit but are comforted that he is now reunited with Omi.
