Obituary of Bob Gill
Passed away on Friday January 21, 2022 at the age of 75 at Peterborough Regional Health Centre with his loved ones by his side. Bob will be dearly missed by his loving wife Kim, his beloved daughters Jennifer, Charlotte and Lena, his son Robbie, his grandchildren, Alexander, Nicholas, Samuel, and Naomi, and his nieces and nephews. He will be lovingly remembered by his sister Nancy Prikker (the late Hendrik), the Prikker family, the Pacione family, the Wood family, the Graham family, as well as, his many friends and relatives.
Bob was born in Lakefield, Ontario. His musical gift allowed him to travel around Canada and the United States performing as Waylon in the Waylon Jennings Tribute band, the Highwaymen and other solo and joint collaborations. He often performed at Showplace in Peterborough.
Bob liked to hunt and he loved the serenity of being by the lake; watching the loons and hearing the songbirds sing. His hearty laughter and warm presence will be forever missed by those who knew and loved him. His hugs were simply the best and will be greatly missed. Bob loved to sit and reminisce of days gone by and laugh at life’s wonders. He always looked forward to hearing how your day was and he took a genuine interest in everyone he met.
He loved life. He loved strong & he loved hard.
He will be forever remembered with affection and admiration.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Lakefield Cemetery - 1262 Buckhorn Road, Lakefield, Ontario.
“Dad,
Your love was unconditional, a blessing to behold
And now that you’re with Jesus, a peaceful feeling takes hold
Your giant hugs were my comfort whenever we embraced
Although these are now my memories, they too are my saving grace
I miss your hugs already,
your love and laughter too.
But I know you are with the lord, and this brings me comfort for you.
I know you will always guide me; my compass you will be
Like the rise of the sun replaces the moon, when I look up to heaven, I know that’s where you will be.
I will forever be reminded of the things that brought you joy…
The sound of birds in the water, land and sky.
Although you are up above, you are never far away,
Heaven is where you are now, we will never say goodbye.“
