It is with profound sadness the family announces the passing of Gail Brown on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Toronto General Hospital in her 75th year. Gail was born in Peterborough, raised in Lakefield and her family moved to Burleigh Falls when she was eight. Gail spent many of her earlier years with the Joy Townsley School of Dance and displaying her talents as a Majorette in various bands. In 1965, Gail married the love of her life, Michael and they moved to Scarborough for a few years before returning to Lakefield and then Young’s Point. In 1987, they put down roots at Port Darlington in Bowmanville and in 1995 started their family business, Oak Unlimited Furniture. When Gail and Michael weren’t working, they enjoyed biking, cross country skiing, and taking walks together. In November 2014, Gail retired and she and Michael moved to Stoney Lake, Burleigh Falls where she was able to dedicate more of her time to her beloved grandchildren. Gail was a classy, vibrant lady with a passion for cooking and entertaining, but her true love was her family that she was so very proud of and loved endlessly!
Gail will be forever loved and missed by her husband of 56 years, Michael Brown and her children, Mark Brown (Denise) and Michelle Knight (Tim). Proud and loving Nanny of Shannon McGuire (Scott), Sarah Brown, Owen Knight and Ryan Knight. Gail leaves behind her mother, Doreen (Peggy) Hampton, her sister, Joan Michie (Gord Woolsey), her sister-in-law, Annette Leahy, and her cousins, Nancy Hanes and Cheryl Cooper (née Graham). Cherished aunt of Drew Michie, and Kathy, Michael, Chris, and Beth Leahy. Predeceased by her father, John Hampton and her brother-in-law, David Michie. Gail will be remembered by her great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family and many friends.
