I knew John a little in high school but it was when he joined the Fenelon Falls Oldflyers that I really got to know him. We were the same age and it was fun to be finally playing hockey with a Nicholls. In another league around the same time I played for Kinmount and he was playing for Bobcaygeon. I scored a goal against them one night he was close by and gave me a little tap and told me nice goal. His sportsmanship was there. Condolences to you Diane and your family. John & Lola Dettman

Sad to hear of John's passing. We've been friends, competitors, in Hockey & Fastball, for more than 50 yrs. I looked forward to seeing him @ the Hall of Fame ceremony every year. I have some great pictures of John, Dave @ Bernie, that I'll cherish forever.
