Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, Peterborough on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at the age of 71. Murray, formerly of Lucknow, Ontario was born in Kincardine and moved to the Peterborough area in the late 1960’s. He will be forever loved and missed by his children, Shawn and Tyler (Joanne) Mewhinney, his granddaughter, Kyla and his unborn grandchild on the way. Loving partner of Linda Storey and cherished friend of her children, Lindsey (Maya) and Sheldon. Dear brother of Doug (Cathy) Mewhinney, Linda (Bev) Hunter, Kathy (Rae) Nicholson, Dave (Ellen) Mewhinney, the late Marie (Mike) McAuley, and the late Ken Mewhinney. He will be missed by his nieces and nephews, Christine, Derek, Bradley, Jessica, David, Jeff, Jason, Curtis, Christopher, and Matt. Throughout his life, Murray was involved in the 4-H Club and was blessed to be able to follow his passion of farming and cattle ranching. He was a hardworking, family man with an infectious laugh. Murray will be greatly missed by his extended family, many friends, and all that knew him.
A visitation will be held at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES – LAKEFIELD CHAPEL, 66 Queen Street, Lakefield, Ontario on Saturday, March 12, 2022 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. A funeral service will follow at 1:30 PM in the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow at Lakefield Cemetery.
