VAN BUUREN, Betty Ann (nee Payton)

Passed away peacefully at the Peterborough Retirement Residence on Friday August 4, 2023 at the age of 79 years.  Wife of the late Robert "Bob" Van Buuren.  Lovingly remembered by her stepchildren the late John (Stephanie), Ylva, and Maryann (Peter). Grandma of Kieran (Brittany) and Grady (Courtney). Sister-in-law of  the late Miek (Douwe), late Hans (Corrie), Jan (late Betsy), Nel (late Joop), Anneriet (Herman), Hugo (Janny), Arie (Gea); and Barb Payton. Predeceased by her brothers David (Connie), George (Deborah). Loved by her nieces Holly and Kim and by her many other nieces and nephews in Canada and the Netherlands. 

Betty had a busy and fulfilling life. She grew up in Lakefield, Ont., and moved to Toronto to work as a hairdresser. Later she worked in office administration. She loved cooking, gardening and hosting friends and family in her kitchen and backyard. Betty loved to travel. She and Bob enjoyed hot weather vacations as well as regular visits to the Netherlands to see family. (She went so many times, she decided to learn how to speak Dutch.) Betty was a loyal friend, and she volunteered in her community regularly. 

A memorial service will be held at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL on Sunday August 13, 2023 at 1:00 PM with visitation to commence 12:00 PM.  As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the P.R.H.C.
