ELMHURST: Laura Ruth (nee Hutchinson)

On Sunday September 3, 2023, at home with family at her side in her 90^th year.  Loving wife of Dick (d. 2015) for nearly 60 years.  Predeceased by sisters Clarnece Herrington and June Warr.  Loving mother to Andy, Holly (Gerry) and Rob (Shelley).  Remembered and loved by grandchildren Colin (Bethany), Carly, Brendan and Susan.  Great grandmother to Phinehas, Phoebe, Charis and Casper.  Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.  Laura was an avid quilter, gardener and adventurous cook who was often found on her front porch swing overlooking the family farm.  She was a keen genealogist and had a passion for local history.  Laura read several newspapers daily and loved to discuss world events.  A funeral service will be held on Tuesday September 12, 2023 at 11;00 AM, at St. Michael’s Anglican Church, Westwood with a reception to follow at St. Andrew’s United Church, Westwood.  Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Norwood or the charity of one’s choice as expressions of sympathy and may be made by contacting THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, NORWOOD CHAPEL, 36 Queen Street, Norwood at www.hendrenfuneralhome.com or by calling 705-639-5322.
