McWHINNIE: Robert

Passed away peacefully in his sleep at Highland Wood LTC in Haliburton on Tuesday September 26, 2023.  Robert McWhinnie of Norwood in his 94th year.  Robert was a long-time member of the Norwood Legion.  He worked for the board of education for over 25 years and touched the hearts of many of the children during the years.  Loved and missed by his children, Frazer (Zita) of Burlington and Sheena Nesbitt-McWhinnie (Kevin) of Bobcaygeon.  Loving grandfather of Cory, Robby, Kevin, Justin McWhinnie and Kazz Nesbitt and great grandfather of Mackson, Jaxx, Felix, Karsyn and Norah.  Survived by his sister-in-law Ina Coats and many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his son Charles (2009), his wife of 67 years Jeannie (2021), brother Charles (Chicago), and brothers-in-law Charlie Coats, Samuel (Sadie) Coats, Willie (Fay) Currie.  A funeral service will be held at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, NORWOOD CHAPEL, 36 Queen Street, Norwood, on Wednesday October 4, 2023 at 2:00 PM.  Visitation one hour prior to the service.  Interment Asphodel-Norwood Cemetery.  A reception will follow at the Royal Canadian Legion, Norwood.
