BALLANTYNE: Mabel Agnes (nee Bronson)

On January 5, 1923, Mable Agnes Ballantyne was born in Quyon in the Province of Quebec, to Sarah Agnes Hicks and Hilliard John Bronson.  The Ballantynes spent the early years of their married life living in Quebec.  In 1958, Gordon was ordained by the United Church of Canada and served several congregations in the Bay of Quinte Conference, including Lakefield.  After retirement in 1986, Gordon and Mabel returned to Lakefield.  Gordon passed away on January 1, 2005.  Mabel was dedicated to her family and to the churches that she and Gordon served.  Whether it was on long trips with Gordon or short outings with friends, Mabel loved to travel.  For many years, she enjoyed her winter bus trips to Florida and local bus trips.  Mabel passed away peacefully on Sunday October 1, 2023 at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre.  She is lovingly remembered by her son Brent (Joanne), 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.  Predeceased by her daughters Judy and Brenda.  She will be sadly missed by her many friends and the folks in the village of Lakefield.  A private family interment has taken place.  Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Peterborough as expressions of sympathy.  Friends and relatives may make donations or send condolences by contacting THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL, 66 Queen Street, Lakefield at www.hendrenfuneralhome.com or by calling 705-652-3355.
