Obituary of Jane vanden Broek

vanden Broek (nee Verhoeven); Adriana (Jane) Cornelia

The Lord welcomed Jane lovingly into his arms on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, while she rested at Extendicare Lakefield. Jane vanden Broek of Buckhorn was in her 93^rd year. After arriving from Holland in 1954, Jane and Martin worked their farm close to Buckhorn and raised their family of five children. She was a dedicated member of St. Paul the Apostle R.C. Church, Lakefield and its CWL. Jane was a talented craftswoman who lent her hand to her loves of quilting (she made a quilt for each of her children and grandchildren), sewing, knitting and especially flower gardening. Many people will remember visiting Jane and Martin’s farm, Brooks Flowers, for their beautiful seedlings. Jane enjoyed volunteering with the St. Paul’s CWL, the Buckhorn Good Buy Room and Buckhorn Library. She generously donated the proceeds of an annual plant sale to the Buckhorn Library for many years.

Beloved wife of the late Martinus "Martin" vanden Broek. Greatly loved and missed by her children, Hanna Dracup (Dave) of Peterborough, Maryann Clancy (Terry) of Buckhorn, Tony vanden Broek (Donna) of Renfrew, Jennie MacKenzie (John) of Peterborough and Adrian vanden Broek (Teri) of Lakefield. Loving Oma to 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Survived by sisters-in-law, Adri vanden Broek (Harry) and Jo Vermeer (Wim). Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Adrianus Verhoeven and Johanna Janssen, brothers, Bart, Sjaak, Frans, Jan and Sjef and sisters, Martina and Bertha.

Friends and relatives may call at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOME, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL, 66 Queen Street, Lakefield on Friday, November 3, 2023 from 4 to 7 P.M. Parish prayers will be offered at the funeral home at 6:45 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle R.C. Church, 4 Reid Street, Lakefield on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 11 A.M. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall of the Church. Interment will take place at 2 P.M. at the cemetery of St. Mary’s R.C. Church in Young’s Point. Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul the Apostle R.C.
