Obituary of Ron Farrow

FARROW: Ronald David

Passed away on Monday January 29, 2024 at St. Joseph’s at Fleming Nursing Home, Peterborough, at the age of 84.  Ron was the son of David Farrow and Viola Farrow (Davis).  He resided at his family home on the 8^th Line of Smith until 2020 when his health deteriorated, making it necessary for him to go to Applewood Retirement Home in Peterborough and then to St. Joseph’s at Fleming Nursing Home.  Ron is cousin to Donna Whetung (Farrow), Lois Dunford (Farrow), Elwood “Woody” Farrow (Brenda) and Linda Dunford (Farrow) (John).  Ron worked at Ontario Hydro for many years and made many connections with contractors and customers.  Shortly after retirement, Ron and his friend Claude Gauvier did a bike tour from Lakefield to the Pembroke area, rough camping for the nights.  His passion was his “Camp”, Indian Portage on Cock’s Lake.  He would go by ATV or snowmobile and stay for days.  There he enjoyed renovating the camp, clearing the trails of trees and ‘playing cards’ with his friends.  A funeral service will be held at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL, 66 Queen Street, Lakefield on Monday February 5, 2024 at 2:00 PM.  Visitation one hour prior to the service.  A reception will follow at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #77, Lakefield.  Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice as expressions of sympathy and may be made by contacting the funeral home at www.hendrenfuneralholme.com or by calling 705-652-3355.
